Worthington — 270-315 Sports has named Worthington Kilbourne’s Charlotte Routh as the 2025 Volleyball Player of the Year for the coverage area. Routh becomes the inaugural recipient of the award.
The senior led Division II this season with 115 blocks, averaging 1.4 per set. Routh was also a force offensively for the Wolves, recording 61 aces on 18.4% of her attempts and finishing second on the team with 176 kills, converting 37.4% of her swings.
Head coach Meladee Hopkins described Routh as the type of player who doesn’t need to be heard, only seen.
“Charlotte is the kind of player who quietly takes over a match. She isn’t the loudest player on the court, but her game play speaks volumes,” Hopkins said. “Since her freshman year on varsity, she’s played with a calm, steady presence that makes her a steady leader for our team.”

Her impact was magnified in Kilbourne’s biggest matches, where her play either kept the Wolves within striking distance or helped push them across the finish line.
In the regional semifinal against Big Walnut, she delivered 14 blocks, 12 kills and four aces. In the first two meetings with Big Walnut earlier in the year, she combined for 13 kills and 18 blocks.
She also responded against regional finalist Dublin Scioto, who limited her impact in the first meeting. Routh would post 11 blocks, 10 kills and four aces in the second meeting. Dublin Jerome did a better job limiting her net presence in their lone matchup, but Routh still answered with 14 kills.
After the season, Routh was named an all-Ohio selection for the second straight year. She finishes her career at Kilbourne with 488 kills, a .313 hitting percentage, 88 aces, 287 blocks, and 146 digs.

Charlotte was a four-year scholar-athlete at Worthington Kilbourne, and she’s known for her selfless approach and the positive influence she had on the program.
“What really stands out about Charlotte is how much of a team player that she is,” Hopkins said. “She celebrates her teammates successes more than her own, and that selfless attitude has been a huge part of our program culture.”
After this year, Routh will head to Lipscomb University in Nashville for college volleyball. Her impact isn’t bound to be forgotten anytime soon at Kilbourne.
“She’s an incredible athlete, a dedicated student, and an all-around amazing young woman.” Hopkins says.
