Kilbourne Baseball Sweeps Scioto, Stay Unbeaten in OCC Play

Dublin — Hard Road is officially Kilbourne blue.

On Monday, for the first time in six years, the Wolves swept rival Dublin Scioto, improving to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in OCC play.

They didn’t just win the series; they sent a statement about their program.

“These guys are hyped. They love winning and want to keep winning,” said Carter Smith, who drove in a season-high three RBIs in Monday’s sweep. “It just feels amazing.”

Kilbourne broke through in the second inning on an RBI hit from Oliver Flynn Miller, followed with a two-RBI double by Thatcher Kitay. The early cushion backed starting pitcher Dominic Viggiano, who struck out four batters through the first two innings.

In the fourth inning, Smith belted a bases-clearing double to left field, extending Kilbourne’s lead to 6–1 and breaking the game open. Scioto continued to battle but never closed the gap.

Though not dominant, Viggiano improved to 3–0 on the season, helping the Wolves turn Hard Road blue. He went 4.2 innings, allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out six.

For Viggiano, a perfect pitching record is nice but humility is what will carry the day.

“It feels good, but it also makes sure that you are humble,” Viggiano said. “If you put the ball in play, then our team is good enough to handle it. That 3-0 shows that I’m comfortable with the guys around me.”

Ben Davis and Brady Frech would add insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings, as Worthington Kilbourne went on to beat Dublin Scioto 8-4 and sweep the Hard Road series.

At 7–1 overall and 4–0 in OCC play, the Wolves are continuing a rapid turnaround for a program that won just seven games two years ago.

If Kilbourne wants to sustain its momentum, maintaining its aggressive approach at the plate will be key. The Wolves have scored 81 runs through eight games this season.

“We just have to be aggressive and create chaos,” Viggiano said. “Just have fun, play the game, and go all out.”
