With summer underway, incoming high school seniors are beginning to lock in their college decisions. About midway through June, three local athletes made their commitments public heading into their senior year.
Alina Montero – Upper Arlington (Girls Soccer)
Fresh off a state championship run last fall, Montero has announced her commitment to the University of Wyoming to continue her soccer career.
A key piece of Upper Arlington’s title-winning defense, Montero anchored the net throughout the postseason. She allowed just two goals during the tournament and helped shut down scoring opportunities against Dublin Coffman, Olentangy Liberty, and Seton, delivering several crucial saves along the way.
Falon Gipson – Thomas Worthington (Girls Lacrosse)
Thomas Worthington added another college commitment to its growing list as Gipson announced she will continue her lacrosse career at Dominican University of California.
Gipson becomes the sixth member of the Cardinals’ 2027 class to commit, joining Macy Morgan, Leo Bower, Lucy Chalfant, Mallory Poland, and CeCe Clay.
Including Gipson, Thomas Worthington has now produced eight college-bound players across the 2026 and 2027 classes.
Chris Getner – Upper Arlington (Football)
After taking an official visit to Athens at the end of May, Getner announced his commitment to Ohio University on May 31.
The three-star offensive lineman chose the Bobcats over offers from Kent State, Liberty, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan, Temple, Missouri State, Marshall, Charlotte, and Lafayette College.
