The Marv set to reopen most seating ahead of Upper Arlington’s first home football game

Upper Arlington — On Thursday, Upper Arlington High School (UAHS) announced that the vast majority of the bleachers at Marv Moorhead Memorial Stadium will reopen in time for the Golden Bears’ first home game of the season Friday.

According to UAHS, one concrete pier suffered significant damage during the storms that hammered the city on 11 August. The storm was part of a larger weather event that brought a tornado to Columbus and caused wind damage, flooding and other problems across the state.

As a result, a small section of seating supported by the damaged pier will remain closed for the near future. However, the visitor, end zone and majority of the home bleachers were cleared for use following an engineering inspection.

The update comes after UAHS closed off all bleachers at the start of the fall sports season until an inspection could be completed to ensure their safety.

The Golden Bears will open their home schedule against Olentangy Berlin Friday, entering the game 1-0 after a 40-7 destruction of Olentangy to open the year.
